A Message From the President Lynn Jones
Posted at 08:44 on 2010-Feb-22 by VFW NC Ladies Reporting
Well, Sisters, the year is more than halfway over already, and we are rapidly closing in on 100% in membership. We are currently at 93%, and with just a few more hard pushes, we can make it to our “New Horizons.” A special congratulations is in order for those Auxiliaries that have already made 100% in membership – way to go!Let me take this opportunity to thank all of you out there who have supported me so enthusiastically this year. Everywhere I travel I am met with warmth and friendliness, and it is indeed a pleasure to visit every district and auxiliary I can. The weather during the last month threw off all of our schedules a bit, but I still hope to show my face at many, many more locations before the annual convention in June.
The Spring fairs and events of North Carolina have been supplied to all District Presidents and all District Commanders. I know every District President will work tirelessly side by side with her District Commander to attend these fairs and events, and sign up new Sisters! And speaking of tireless work – a big thanks to all the Chairmen of the various Ladies’ and Comrades’ programs for the outstanding job they did in making sure that those VFW core programs and the other minor programs worked so well. Did you know that we had more posts and auxiliaries participate in the Voice of Democracy, Patriot Pen, and Teacher of the Year competitions than in any time in the past ten years? This is solely due to the great emphasis placed on these programs by the Department, District, Post, and Auxiliary Chairmen, and you have earned the right to give yourself a big round of applause!
Remember that year-end reports are coming up soon, and we need to do a good thorough job to see that all the Auxiliaries and Districts get the credit they deserve for all their hard work. A minimum of 80% of our Auxiliaries must report in order for us to meet our goal.
I will be attending the Ladies’ National Midwinter Conference from March 18th to the 21st. I wanted you all to know that I am going, and receiving a special night on the town in LAS VEGAS due to your hard work. The Department had to be 90% in membership by December 31st in order for me to win that special prize, and I am fully aware that it was you doing, and not mine, that got me there!
Finally, our new Ladies Auxiliary Department website is really coming together and looking good. Our internet address is www.lavfwnc.org, and I urge all of you to visit it. Please send me articles of interest, so that we can pack it full of good information for all the Sisters of the Department. And, did you know, that every District and Auxiliary can sign up for its own free website under this new webcom system of ours? Contact me and I will tell you how to do it! Just think, your our website where your own local information can be posted – that is the wave of the future!
